THE REST OF MY LIFE

(Unknown)

I - Part of my life brings tears of regret
And part of my life I would rather forget
Part of my life I can never recall
But the rest of my life, I'll atone for it all.

Ref: Yes, part of my life to false idols I bowed
And part of my life I just followed the crowd
Yes, part of my life is a story of sin
But the rest of my life, I will honor God's name.

II - Freely I drank from life's glittering cup
So deep, in my shame I could hardly look up
Broken and spent to the Saviour I cried
Now the rest of my life, we will walk side by side.

Ref:

III - Too many years I squandered in sin
And too many years, I was bitter within
Tears of regret is the price I must pay
But the rest of my life, God can have His own way.

We sang this song at church when I was a child. I just recently remembered it, and couldn't find it anywhere! I couldn't remember some of the words. Where did you find it? Thanks for posting it!

I found it in a pile of paper trash in our school along with collections of old church songs and hymns. The lyrics struck me and i wanted to share it through this blog.... I'm so glad you found it striking also. thanks..

I remembered hearing this song one time when I was a child back in the 1960's-70's. After some long struggles in a number of ways, when recently witnessing at my Church these lyrics came to my mind and I was able to remember and recite most of them. This song means much to me and I wish it would get published again in some of the Hymnals. Thank You for posting this. D. in Alabama

Thank you for posting this song. Its a song my pastor most often calls me to sing when he has finished his message and is about leading people to Christ. It has always touched the heart of sinners. thanks once again....Andrew from Nigeria.

Rest Of My Life by Eight Days After.

Part of life brings tears of regret.
Part of my life I had rather forget.
Part of my life I can never recall
but for the rest of my life I'll atone for it all.
Chorus:
Yes part of my life
to idol's I bowed.
And part of my life
I just followed the crowd.
Part of my life is a story of shame.
But for the rest of my life
I will honor God's name.
Rest of my life I will honor God's name.
Verse 2
Freely I drank from life's glittering cup.
So full of my shame
I could hardly look up.
Broken and spent to the savior I cried.
For the rest of my life
we'll walk side by side.
Chorus:
Verse 3
To many years I squandered in sin.
To many years I was bitter within.
Tears of regret the price I'll pay.
For the rest of my life
God can have His own way.

Just bows my head, in total surrender, over and over again, consecrating my all in life worship, remaining in God's presence, is all I owe my life. God bless you for this song, after ages.

Deeper Life Choir sang it yesterday. Tells much about my life. Happy God found me

I remembered first hearing this song for the first time in Deeper Life Bible Church, Akure Ondo State. Then I was one of the youth choir leaders in Akure, Ondo State. One of the choir leaders taught the Akure youth choir and I enjoyed it. Surprisingly, I heard it again at the Deeper Life Bible Chruch, Abioudun District, Mushin, when the Global Choir sang it. I had to record it on my phone. The song has blessed my life. It is a song of consecration. God bless the composer.

I'm deeply moved by inspiration of this song. It's indeed a revival catalyst for the hungry soul. I've listened to the song for over 20 years and each time I remember the song, it brings to the very presence of Lord for a deeper level of consecration
